What is the working principle of a transformer?

Transformers operate on the principle of electromagnetic induction. They consist of a primary coil, a secondary coil, and an iron core. When an alternating current is passed through the primary coil, it generates an alternating magnetic field in the iron core. This alternating magnetic field induces an electromotive force in the secondary coil, enabling the transfer of electrical energy from the primary to the secondary coil, and changing the voltage magnitude according to the turns ratio of the coils.
